Black tea

 /  products

Black tea, an immortal classic imported from Asia to Europe since the 17th century. A drink with a strong aroma and dark color, it has a much longer tradition here than the delicate green tea. The reason is simple. Black tea was less fragile for transport by ship and could survive the journey from distant lands without losing much quality. Thanks to its unique taste and stimulating effects, it gained great popularity, and demand only grew.

The base for production, just like with green tea, is the plant called Camellia sinensis. However, the processing method of the tea leaves differs. Black tea is created through full oxidation. This means the leaf structure is broken down by rolling, which triggers oxidation. At the end, the process is stopped by drying in hot air. The result is a black-brown leaf color and a full flavor that pairs perfectly with other ingredients. In many countries, it is customary to sweeten black tea or add spices, milk, or lemon. You can discover your favorite way of preparation with the teas we offer, imported from plantations in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, China, or Georgia.
