Ascension: Apprentice Edition

A great entry point into the Ascension gaming family at a fantastic price. The box features cards with a fresh, updated art style. Unlike the "big box" version, this set doesn't include a game board, replacing it with a poster-style map on the back of the rulebook. Don't let the English language intimidate you. The game has simple rules, and the keywords on the cards are easy to memorize. As mentioned, this set might not be for hardcore, intensive play, but it's perfect as a casual game for occasional players or for travel.

Skvělý vstup do herní rodiny Ascension za super cenu. Balení obsahuje karty v povedeném novém grafickém zpracování, Oproti "velké sadě" zde chybí hrací deska, která je zde nahrazena "plakátovým formátem" na druhé straně pravidel.Pro někoho může být nevýhodou angličtina, kterou se nenechte zastrašit. Hra má jednoduchá pravidla a klíčová slova na kartách se rychle vryjí do paměti. Jak už bylo zmíněno na intenzivní hraní tento set asi nebude, ale jako oddychovka pro občasné hráče, či na cesty se výborně hodí.

At this price, it's a no-brainer. Ascension is a fun deckbuilder, even in this starter edition, which includes enough content for two players. It might not be for heavy, frequent gaming, but it's more than enough for an occasional quick match. The game offers dynamic gameplay, some combo potential thanks to the factions (though only two factions combo together in this edition), various strategic approaches (thinning your deck, building constructs, grabbing as many combo cards as possible, etc.), and easy, accessible rules. Even though the game is in English, it's not a major issue; you'll pick up the keywords after one game, and even non-English speakers will quickly learn the few trickier cards. For those who don't know what deckbuilding is: it's a mechanic where you build your own deck of cards throughout the game. You use it to defeat monsters appearing in the central row to earn points. You can also gain points through card effects or from the cards themselves, so thinning your deck isn't as critical as in other deckbuilding games. So, I can recommend the game, even if it's just for occasional play... plus, it serves as a great test to see if you like the world of Ascension.

Za tu cenu není co řešit. Ascension je zábavný deckbuilding a to i v případě této začátečnické edice, která obsahuje všeho dost, aby si zahráli dva hráči. Na nějaké častější hraní to nebude, ale na občasnou rychlou partii to bohatě stačí. Hra nabízí dynamickou hratelnost, nějaké to kombení díky frakcím (i když v této edici se spolu kombí jen dvě frakce), různé možnosti jak ke hraní přistoupit (ničení plevele z paklu, budování konstrukcí, zisk co nejvíce kombících karet atd) a také snadná a přístupná pravidla. Byť je hra v aj, nejedná se zase až o tak velký problém, keywordy se vžijí po jednom zahrání a i neangličtinář se těch pár složitějších karet naučí. Pro ty, co nevědí co je to deckbuilding: jedná se o mechanismus, kdy si hráč v průběhu hry utváří svůj vlastní balíček karet. Za pomocí něho se v této hře snaží ničit monstra, která se objevují ve veřejné nabídce, za což dostává body. Body se také dají obdržet efekty některých karet a také jsou na kartách samotných, takže plevelení balíčku zase tolik nevadí jako v jiných deckbuilding hrách. Takže hru můžu doporučit, byť je jen na občasné hraní... ale zase to může sloužit jako zkouška zda se vám svět Ascension líbí.

A very pleasant entry into the world of Ascension deck-building (especially considering the price-to-performance ratio). New artwork, original mechanics. Definitely a step in the right direction after the misstep that was Rise of Vigil. Personally, I really liked the honor point tokens that replaced the plastic crystals from the big Ascension sets. The box mainly contains cards from the first base set (Chronicle of the Godslayer), but there are also a few special pieces created specifically for the Apprentice Edition.

Velmí příjemný (obzvlášt poměrem výkon/cena) vstup do světa deckbuldingového Ascensionu. Nová grafika, původní mechanismy. Jednoznačně krok správným směrem po přešlapu, kterým byl Rise of Vigil. Osobně mi navíc hodně sedly žetonové body cti, které nahradily plastové krystaly z velkých Ascensionů. V balení se nacházejí hlavně karty z prvního základu (Chronicle of the Godslayer), ale je tam i pár speciálních kousků vytvořených speciálně pro Apprentice Edition.

If you're hesitating about the "big" Ascension game, this is a great taster at a nice price. For hardcore players, it's an interesting travel-sized version or a solid addition to your collection, as the cards differ from the base "big" game. Naturally, the starter cards, Militia, and Mystic cards are the same.

Kto váha s "veľkou" hrou Ascension, je toto dobrá koštovka za peknú cenu. Pre sklaných hráčov je to zaujímavá verzia na cestovanie alebo na doplnenie zbierky, keďže karty sú iné ako v základnej "veľkej" hre. Len samozrejme šartovacie karty, karty militia a mystic sa opakujú.
