This category is your portal to everything related to the rich and dark world created by Fantasy Flight Games under the Arkham Horror brand. Available here:

  • Board games: From the cornerstone Arkham Horror, through global threats in Eldritch Horror, to horror investigations in Mansions of Madness or faster-paced games like Elder Sign.
  • Card games: Dive into narrative campaigns in the Living Card Game (LCG) Arkham Horror: The Card Game, where every decision you make shapes your fate.
  • Literature: Explore novels and novellas that expand the stories of brave (and often suffering) investigators.
  • Characters and locations: Meet iconic investigators – from detective Joe Diamond to the mysterious Akachi Onyele – and explore cursed towns like Arkham, Dunwich, or Innsmouth.
  • Arkham Horror vs. Cthulhu Mythos: What's the difference?

Although the Arkham Horror universe is deeply rooted in H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos and shares its deities (Cthulhu, Azathoth, Nyarlathotep) and atmosphere of cosmic dread, there is a key difference in approach.

Cthulhu Mythos (Lovecraft): Built on the philosophy of cosmicism. Humanity is completely insignificant, mere dust in the universe. Knowing the truth inevitably leads to madness or death. Protagonists are usually passive victims or mere witnesses to horrors they cannot influence. There is no hope.

The Arkham Horror universe adds a pulpier, heroic element. Here, too, humanity is on the brink of destruction and knowledge is dangerous, but the investigators in Arkham have a fighting chance. They are ordinary people who actively choose to stand up to evil. They can gather clues, find artifacts, fight monsters, and (even if the odds are slim) defeat an Ancient One or at least seal a gate and delay the end of the world.

In short: Lovecraft wrote about us being helpless. Arkham Horror is about what happens when a few brave fools decide not to be.
