The Aletai meteorite is a rare IIIE-an iron meteorite that struck Earth in prehistoric times.
This meteorite features beautiful Widmanstätten patterns, visible on its polished and etched surface. The first modern discovery of this iron meteorite dates back to 1898. In 2011, a massive 25-ton specimen was found. Interestingly, they had to build a road to transport it from the remote area before heavy machinery could move it to the local town hall. The Chinese name for this single mass is "Akebulake". To date, the total weight of all discovered pieces is 74 tons!
