Who are we?
We founded our shop in August 2005 as fantasyobchod.cz – the first purely online store in the Czech Republic focused on LARP and fantasy. In the very beginning, our warehouse was just our grandfather's old suitcase, which held our entire stock. Even though we now offer over 10,000 products, we still pride ourselves on being a friendly family business, and we do our best to accommodate every customer who reaches out to us. The company has been owned since its founding by Jiří Reiter, a fantasy enthusiast and an eternally punk entrepreneur. His passion for books, games, and LARPs stems from his first encounter with fantasy in 1994. His organizing and creative activities naturally crystallized into what was initially a small shop that has grown into its current form.
Why fantasy?
“Read a fantastic tale and then look again at the woods that seemed so mundane to you before; do you not see traces of Lórien in them? Does it not seem to you that elves could emerge there in the meadow?” J.R.R. Tolkien
We love fantasy, and we love being surrounded by it. Today, the fantasy genre has spread far beyond the borders of literature; we find it in many artistic and social spheres. For us, it is primarily a return to values that contemporary society often overlooks. Fantasy is not a utopian victory of imagination over reality—it simply offers a more colorful view of the real world. However, modern people find it hard to accept such a vision. In the context of virtual realities and television infotainment, which show life as much more attractive than we actually live it, it seems unbelievable that the most appealing thing could ultimately be reality viewed through the prism of a fairy tale or myth.
Why a shop?
We want to create a friendly shop where you can find a multitude of products inspired by fantasy. For us, the shop is a craft—our priority is not to buy cheap and sell dear; we want to offer our customers goods that bring them joy and serve them well.
Fantasyobchod → imago
Fantasyobchod was created as a shop for fantasy fans—LARPers, RPG players, board gamers, and avid readers. Today, however, we host the hobbies of many subcultures and communities, and we are more than just an online store—we create our own products. That is why we decided we needed a change. On September 15, 2021, we gave our company a new name and logo.
What do we do?
We strive to support genre-related projects, sponsor various conventions and gatherings, have supported the filming of amateur fantasy movies, help out with wood-fighting and LARP events, and have also sponsored the release of role-playing games or board game cafes. If you have an interesting project, don't hesitate to reach out! We are happy to help.
Who do we support?
We are not just sellers of fantasy goods; we are also fantasy enthusiasts who love to support other sci-fi and fantasy fans. We regularly collaborate on projects that spread the fame and awareness of what we enjoy—role-playing games, LARP, and other fantasy events.
