SW: Armada is the first collectible miniatures game I've ever played. At first, the relatively high price of the core set, which actually only contains three ships and 10 squadrons of fighters, and the equally high price of further expansions (especially compared to X-Wing) put me off, but after playing a few games, I have to say it's worth it.

The ship models are truly beautiful and detailed, and I plan to get display cases for them eventually so they can serve as decorations when they're not being played with :)

In terms of gameplay, the game is quite fast-paced; since players take turns activating individual ships, there isn't much downtime or waiting for your opponent to decide and make their move.

I've already ordered expansions and I can't wait for them to arrive so I can try out a more epic battle with more ships.

SW: Armada je první sběratelská hra s miniaturami, jakou jsem kdy hrál. Ze začátku mě odrazovala poměrně vysoká cena core setu, ve kterém jsou vlastně jen tři lodě a 10 letek stíhaček a stejně vysoká cena dalších rozšíření (zejména v porovnání s X-Wingem), nicméně po několika odehraných partiích musím říct, že za to stojí.

Modely lodí jsou opravdu krásné a detailní a časem plánuji, že si na ně pořídím vytrínky a když se s nimi nebude zrovna hrát, budou sloužit jako dekorace :)

Herně je pak hra poměrně svižná, když se hráči střídají v aktivacích jednotlivých lodí, nehrozí proto moc velké prostoje a čekání, než se protihráč rozmyslí a odehraje.

Už mám objednaná i rozšíření a nemůžu se dočkat, až přijdou a zkusím si nějakou epičtější bitvu s více loděmi.

The ship miniatures are beautiful, the gameplay is fast-paced, the rules are generally quite simple, but the price is high. So far, I only have the core set, which has certain limitations, so you need at least one more set or some expansions for a full experience.
For that reason, I haven't been able to form a complete opinion on the game yet, but despite the high price, I'm still giving it a chance, so we'll see.

Figurky lodí jsou krásné, hra je svižná, pravidla v zásadě celkem jednoduchá, cena je vysoká. Zatím mám pouze core set, který má jistá omezení a pro plnohodnotnou hru je třeba mít aspoň jeden další nebo si již koupit i nějaká rozšíření.
Z toho důvodu jsem si ještě nedokázal na hru udělat ucelený názor, ale i přes vysokou cenu tomu stále šanci dávám, tak uvidíme.

Miniature wargaming based on massive battles between cruisers and battleships. That is the fundamental difference compared to X-Wing from the same company. Personally, those large ships captivated me right from the start, and since I wanted a wargame that was ready to play out of the box, the choice was clear.
The game itself is truly engaging, and every session plays differently because of ship upgrades and, most importantly, the objectives that dictate how players should approach the game.
Prepare a table at least 200x100cm and a thick wallet.
The core set itself gets repetitive quite quickly, and you will need more. Ideally, a second core set right away. That way, each player has their own ruler, and you can potentially modify one maneuver tool to a different speed (like 2), making it easier to place on the table and play.
I will praise the game in every respect, because despite its seemingly high price, it is actually quite cheap by wargaming standards. You don't have to paint anything or spend hours doing it (of course, if that is the reason you love wargaming, you are out of luck here). I will add that the small fighter units are not painted, and it is worth dipping them in a black wash for at least a partial improvement. They will look better on the table immediately, and any extra painting is just a bonus, as they will be overshadowed by the large cruisers anyway.

Figurková wargaming založená na velkých bivách křižníků a bitevníků. To je základní rozdíl oproti X-Wingu od stejné firmu. Mě osobně právě ty velké lodě okouzlily na první dobrou více a protože jsem chtěl mít nějaký wargaming, který je rovnou připravený ke hraní, volba byla jasná.
Hra samotná je opravdu poutavá a každou partii lze zahrát jinak, protože se bude lišit vylepšeními lodí a hlavně úkolem, který hráčům bude určovat, jak by hru měli hrát.
Připravte si stůl alespoň 200x100cm a pořádně tlustou peněženku.
Samotný core set se totiž nakonec velmi rychle ohraje a bude toho ptořeba více. Nejlépe hned druhý core set. Tak bude mít každý hráč vlastní pravítko a případně si budete moci upravit jedno ukázovat manévrů na jinou rychlost (třeba 2) a ta se vám to bude na stůl snáze pokládat a snadněji hrát.
Hru tedy budu ve všech ohledet jenom chválit, protože navzdory její zdánlivě vysoké ceně, je hra vlastně na standardy wargamingu docela levná. Nemusíte nic malovat a trávit u toho hodiny a hodiny času (samozřejmě pokud je právě to tou náplní, proč máte rádi wargaming, tady máte svým způsobem smůlu). K tomuto ještě dodám, že malé jednotky stíhačů namalované nejsou a pro jejich alespoň částečné zkrášlení stojí za to je vymáchat v černém washi. Na stole budou vypadat hned lépe a jakékoliv barvení navíc je už jen takový bonus, neboť vedle těch velkých křižníků budou stejně zanikat.

Ever since this game was released, I've loved playing it, just as I love X-Wing. Armada is a completely different experience, defined by its slower, more cautious, and dramatic pace. My caution vanished instantly. Even with just the core set, this game is a universal strategic masterpiece. By adding the various expansions already released—and those yet to come—you'll need to dig deep to devise new strategies and defeat your opponent. No two battles are the same with a constantly evolving fleet. It's a brilliant game that no Star Wars fan should be without. The miniatures, cards, tokens, and other components are beautiful and high-quality. The game also features various ship models, squadrons, and other replicas whose details will surely impress any fan. It's relatively easy to learn and features intuitive gameplay.

Od vtedy co bola tato hra vydana, zboznuje ju hrat a taktiez milujem X-Wing, ktory je jej sucastou. Hra Armada je uplne o nieco inom, svojym pomalsim, opatrnym a taktiez dramatickym priebehom. Moja opatrnost sa vytratila okamzite a dokonca aj ked len so zakladnym balikom, tato hra je univerzalne a strategicke majstrovske dielo. Pridanim roznych rozsireni, ktoru uz boli vydane a aj tych ktore este len budu, clovek bude musiet ist hlboko do svojej mysle aby vymyslel rozlicne strategie a tak porazil supera. Ziadny suboj nebude rovnaky s moznost stale meniacej sa flotily. Brilantna hra, ktora by nemala chybat v zbierke ziadne fanusika Star Wars. Miniatury, karty, zetony a ine komponenty su krasne a kvalitne. Hra taktiez obsahuje rozne modely lodi, letiek a inych replik, ktore svojimi detailami urcite ohromia nie jedneho fanusika. Hru je mozno pomerne lahko sa naucit a ma taktiez intuitivne ovladanie.

Everything is fine, fast delivery. The game fully meets expectations...
