Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For

It's another hot night. Dry, and the air is dead still. A night that sweats out people's deepest, darkest desires. Dwight ponders all the ways he's messed up and what he'd give for a chance to start over with a clean slate. If only he could crawl out of the numb, gray hell he's made of his life. He'd give anything for that. If only he could break free. If only he could feel the heat of that fire once more. Just one more time. And then, Ava calls.

The second book in the Sin City series was originally published as six individual issues, unlike the previous volume, The Hard Goodbye (published in 2005), which was originally divided into thirteen short chapters.

The book is more compact, the plot moves at a faster pace, and there's no shortage of twists. The artwork is more refined, with a more pronounced play of light and shadow. According to the internal chronology of the Sin City series, the story takes place partly before and concurrently with the events of the first volume, The Hard Goodbye. That's why we get to see Marv again (portrayed by Mickey Rourke in the Sin City film).
