Dungeons & Dragons: Nolzur's Miniatures - Giant Spider & Egg Clutch

I bought this giant spider model as a replacement for the official spider models in the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game. The official model felt impractical (it's metal and significantly more fragile), but maybe I should have invested in the Games Workshop model after all. The model itself has a level of detail typical for current single-mold castings that you commonly get with mass-market board games today. It's a bit underwhelming for the price. Furthermore, the model is made of a semi-flexible polymer, giving the figure that unpleasant 'rubber bath toy' look, lacking sharp edges and any real possibility for proper cleaning. Last but not least, the model is extremely sturdily attached to a 'rubbery' terrain piece, which then has to be glued onto the provided flat black thermoplastic base. This means you practically can't reach any of the lower parts of the model for painting (unless you brutally separate the terrain from the spider itself, though the joint is absurdly strong). Priming with Vallejo primer isn't very convincing either; the primer is semi-glossy, and the paint adheres to it poorly at best. In the end, I finished the model and used it as a proof of concept for mimicking natural spider coloration (the European garden spider), but I wouldn't buy this model again.

Model obřího pavouka jsem pořídil jako náhradu za oficiální pavoučí modely do Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game. Oficiální model mi připadal nepraktický (jde o kovový a podstatně křehčí model), ale možná jsem měl přeci jen investovat do modelu od Games Workshop. Model samotný má míru detailů běžnou pro současné výlisky z jedné formy, které dnes běžně dostanete k velkonákladovým deskovým hrám. Za požadované peníze je to poněkud málo. Nadto je model vyroben z polopružného polymeru takže figurka má takový ten nepříjemný vzhled gumových zvířátek do vany bez ostrých hran a možnosti slušného začištění. V neposlední řadě je model nesmírně bytelně připojen ke 'gumákovému' terénu, který teprve potom přijde přilepit na dodanou plochou base-ku z černého termoplastu. To taky znamená, že k jakékoli spodní partii modelu se pro účely malování prakticky nejde dostat (tedy pokud se nepustíto do brutálního oddělení terénu pod pavoukem od pavouka samého, ovšem ten spoj je proveden až nesmyslně důkladně). Priming Valejo primerem také není docela přesvědčivý, primer je pololesklý a barva na něm drží přinejmenším špatně. Nakonec jsem model dokončil a využil ho jako proof of concept nápodoby přírodního zbarvení pavouka (křížák skvostný), ale znovu bych model nepořídil.

Nolzur's miniatures are a sure bet. Beautifully crafted with great attention to detail. I highly recommend them. Total satisfaction.

Miniatury Nolzur jsou opravdu sázka na jistotu. Krásně zpracované, s důrazem na detaily. Opravdu mohu jen doporučit. Naprostá spokojenost.
