With these surprise sets, you can always expect excitement, or perhaps a bit of disappointment if you happen to pull figures you didn't really want. I have to say, we bought 3 boxes of this Elemental Evil set at once, and in the photo, you can see the result, which I'm very happy with.

Each box contains 3 small figures and one large or huge figure. You also have a chance to pull some rare ones. And as you can see, we got lucky. I consider two dragons and a griffon a great success, as well as the ogre and the invisible figure, which, as far as I know, are among the rare ones. The elemental is also useful almost anywhere, just like the spider, and as for the humanoid figures, I don't find any of them useless. They can all be used in various ways. Most figures have permanently attached bases and don't need any assembly (the exception being flying figures, which you have to attach to the base). The only minor flaw is the occasional imperfection in the paint job, which might need touching up, whether it's paint bleeding over the lines or a missed spot.

We've bought 4 packs of these random sets so far (Icewind Dale and Elemental Evil for us) and we've always pulled absolutely great figures. Plus, in terms of price/number of figures/size/paint job, it's a very good deal, even if you don't know exactly what you're going to get.

S těmito překvápkovými sety se vždy můžete dočkat nadšení i případného zklamání, když náhodou padnou figurky, které byste úplně nechtěli. Inu musím říci, že z tohoto Elemental Evil setu jsme pořídili 3 krabičky najednou a na fotce vidíte výsledek, se kterým musím říci, že jsem velice spokojen.

V každé krabičce jsou 3 malé a jedna velká nebo obří figurka. Máte taky šanci, že padnou nějaké raritní figurky. A jak je vidět zadařilo se. Dva draky a gryfa považuju za velký úspěch, stejně tak ogra a neviditelnou figurku, kteří se řadí pokud vím, mezi raritní. Elementál je taky využitelný skoro kdekoli, stejně tak pavouk, co se týká humanoidních figurek neshledávám žádnou neužitečnou. Všechny se dají použít rozličnými způsoby. Figurky mají většinou pevně připojené podstavce a není je zapotřebí nijak skládat (výjimka jsou figurky ve vzduchu kdy musíte nabodnout na podstavec). Jediná drobná vada na kráse u figurek jsou občasné nedostatky v nabarvenosti, které bude vhodné opravit ať se jedná o přetahy, nebo naopak opomenuté místečko bez barvy.

Z těchto náhodných setů (u nás Icewinddale a Elemental Evil zatím) jsme koupili zatím 4 balíčky a vždy padly naprosto skvělé figurky. Navíc v přepočtu cena / počet figur / velikost / nabarvení se jedná o velmi výhodnou koupi, leč nemáte jistotu co padne.

I've had the Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures: Icons of the Realms Set 2 Booster - Elemental Evil since Christmas, nine packs in total (a sealed brick of eight plus one extra).

The box is quite large, but you'll only find Large-sized figures inside, not Huge ones—just like in the first Tyranny of Dragons series boosters. I was happy with the contents, even though I didn't pull the chimera, the large white dragon, the sphinx, or the medium-sized earth and water elementals I was hoping for. I did get a Large air elemental (twice, on the far left of the picture; not as detailed as the version from Fang and Talons) and a Large fire elemental (to its right, arguably the best-looking version in this size). Right in front of it is the Rare fire Myrmidon with two sabers, currently the most valuable figure in the set. I also collected all four elemental cult warriors: fire (the black armored figure with a torch in front of the Myrmidon), earth (two armored figures with maces behind the fire elemental), air (the armored figure in a white cloak with a crossbow in the front center), and water (the shirtless blue warrior with a serrated sword on the front right).

The highlights among the figures I pulled were two Rare dragons. The first is the visually stunning but not very valuable (in terms of collecting/gaming) Large bronze dragon, shown turning around on the back left. The second is the Medium black dragon (a young adult) to its right, currently the third most valuable figure in Set 2. To its right, you can see a trio of large monsters: the coveted two-headed gray ettin, a brown owlbear, and two ogres—likely the best version released in the Icons of the Realms boosters, surpassed only by the one from the Cave Defenders set. I was also pleased with the Large griffon (flying in front of the dragons), the well-crafted hyena-like gnoll, and two exceptionally nice Duergar dark dwarves with hammers (all in front of the griffon). Among the elemental creatures, the Magmin (the Monster Menagerie 3 version was better), Fire Snake, and Fire Bat (in front of the Duergar) are worth mentioning, as well as the dark Earth Genasi fighter (with a two-handed sword) and the blue female Air Genasi rogue (in front of the gnoll). The Air Genasi is actually the fourth Rare figure I pulled in this haul, coming from the ninth booster bought outside the brick along with an air elemental, a fire bat, and an earth cultist.

There were also figures of common races with character classes: the white-and-blue hammer-wielding dwarf fighter on the front left (probably the best dwarf fighter from all the Icons sets), a moon elf ranger under the large dragon, two deep gnome Svirfneblin with hammers (right next to it), a gold dwarf with an axe near the ogres, and a small forest gnome ranger on the front right. I got two of the latter—the normal one and its invisible, translucent Ultra Rare version, which, to my disappointment, replaced one of the Rare figures in the brick (who even plays a gnome ranger?!). A bit further on, to the left, is the only undead figure I found: a shambling gray ghoul (not as toothy as the version from Boneyard) and a Wolf Spider on the front left (a smaller version of the one from Fang and Talons).

The paint job is quite solid; only the ghoul is a bit crooked, but for a monster like that, it's forgivable. If I had to be critical, the black dragon's wing positioning is a bit odd, but otherwise, I have no complaints. The figures made for a great Christmas gift, so I'm fully satisfied.

Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures: Icons of the Realms Set 2 Booster -Elemental Evil mám už od Štědrého dne, a to celkem devět kusů (zatavený brick po osmi a jeden navíc)

Krabička je sice větší velikosti, ale lze v ní nalézt nanejvýše figurky velikosti Large (velké) a nikoli Huge (obrovské), stejně jako tomu bylo u boostrů serie 1 Tyrany of Dragons. S obsahem jsem byl spokojený, i když v nich nebyla vytoužená chiméra, velký bílý drak, sfinga s orlí hlavou, ani středně velcí elementálové země a vody. Získal jsem z nich aspoň velkého elementála vzduchu (hned dvakrát, na obrázku zcela vlevo, ne tak propracovaného jako jeho verze z Fang and Talons) a velkého elementála ohně (napravo od něj, patrně nejhezčí verze v této velikosti). Hned před ním se nachází co do četnosti Rare figurka ohnivý Myrmidon se dvěma šavlemi, v současnosti nejcennější figurka z celého setu. Získal jsem též všechny čtyři bojovníku kultů živlu, a to ohně (černý obrněnec s pochodní před Myrmidonem) země (dva obrněnci s palcáty za ohnivým elementálem), vzduchu (obrněnec v bílém plášti s kuší vpředu uprostřed) a vody (polonahý modrý válečník se zoubkovaným mečem vpředu vpravo). Ozdobou mezi objevenými figurkami byli dva Rare draci. Prvním je vizuálně nádherný ale sběratelsky/herně nepříliš ceněný velký (Large) bronzový drak, co vlevo vzadu předvádí otočku, ten druhý je středně velký (Medium) černý drak (odrostlé mládě) napravo od něj, momentálně třetí nejcennější figurka v rámci setu 2. Napravo od něj je k vidění trojice velkých monster, a to vytoužený dvouhlavý šedivý obr ettin, hnědý sovomedvěd a hned dvakrát ogr, a to patrně jeho nejpěknější verze vydaná v rámci boostrů Icons realms, lepší byl jen ten z extra souboru Cave Defenders. Také mě potěšil velký gryf (poletuje před draky), ale i poměrně vydařený hyenovitý gnoll a dva mimořádně pěkní temní trpaslíci Duergaři s kladivy (vše před gryfem). Z živlových bytostí si zasluhují zmínku Magmin (v Monster Menagerie 3 byl lepší), Fire Snake a Fire Bat (před Duergary), ale také tmavý Earth Genashi fighter (s mečem obouruč) a modrý dívčí Air Genashi rogue (před gnollem). Právě Air Genashi je čtvrtou figurkou z četností Rare získanou v tomto nákupu, právě z devátého boostru pořízeného mimo brick spolu s elementálem vzduchu, ohnivým netopýrem a zemním kultistou. I zde byly figurky běžnějších ras s herním povoláním, bílo modrý kladivem ozbrojený trpasličí válečník vlevo vpředu (asi nejpěknější trpasličí válečník ze všech setů Icons), měsíční elf ranger pod velkým drakem, dvakrát hlubinný gnom Svirfneblin s kladívkem (hned vedle), zlatá trpaslice se sekyrou u ogrů a vpravo před ní malý lesní gnom ranger. Ten byl hned dvakrát, a to jak normální, tak jeho neviditelná průsvitná ultra Rare verze, která k mému smutku nahradila v bricku jednu z Rare figurek (kdo hraje gnoma rangera?!). Kus dál se nachází nalevo od nich jediná nalezená figurka nemrtvého, potácející se šedivý ghůl (ne tak zubatý jako jeho verze z Beneyardu) a také Wolf Spider vlevo vpředu (menší verze toho z Fang and Talons).

Barvení bylo provedeno celkem solidně, nakřivo se jen trochu ghůl, ale u tohoto monstra se to dá prominout. Pokud bych chtěl být za každou cenu kritický, tak černý drak má trochu divné postavení křídel, ale jinak nemám co vytknout. Figurky udělaly o vánocích radost, takže plná spokojenost.
