What do you find in the article?
The Pokémon TCG card game is bringing new releases to celebrate 30 years since its inception. Over three decades, what started as a children's collectible hobby has become a global pop-culture phenomenon. Today, the industry sees rare cards auctioning for massive sums, historical boxes being opened, and collectors sending their best pieces for grading with companies like PSA.
The upcoming anniversary set, titled Pokémon 30th Anniversary, officially kicks off on September 16, 2026, with new product stock hitting the market throughout the autumn. A key piece of news for the entire community is the unified global release. Unlike some standard sets, players and collectors in Japan, Europe, and North America will start opening their first products on the exact same day.
This special set commemorates the game's entire history, offering a cross-section of iconic Pokémon from all generations to date. Characters like Mew, Mewtwo, and Pikachu will make a return. The manufacturers state that the set will feature a total of 30 of the most significant characters from Pokémon TCG history. Alongside this trip down memory lane, developers are introducing a new card rarity called Futuristic.
The pack-opening experience itself will differ from what you're used to with standard sets. Each booster pack will contain 6 cards, and every card in the pack will be a foil version. Additionally, the set includes a special series dedicated to Pikachu. A total of 30 different Pikachu cards will be released, each designed by a different illustrator. There is also a guarantee that one Pikachu card will appear in every single pack.
Release Timeline: What's coming and when?
Special anniversary products will hit the market in four waves. This allows you to browse the autumn releases, plan your collecting goals, and choose the specific items you're interested in.
- Wave: September 16, 2026 – Start of Autumn Releases
The first four 30th-anniversary products arrive. The core product of the set is the Elite Trainer Box (ETB), which contains 9 30th Celebration booster packs, an Illustration Rare promo card, and a sturdy storage box including sleeves and dice.

Also releasing on September 16 is the Poster Collection. This set includes 3 booster packs, a double-sided poster, and promo cards featuring the Kanto bird trio – Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

For younger collectors, the Sticker Collection will be released, featuring 3 packs, stickers, and 1 promo card.

The fourth product is the 30th EX Boxes featuring Sylveon ex and Greninja ex. Inside these boxes, you'll find 4 boosters, a promo card, and an oversized card.

- Wave: October 2, 2026 – Collectible Accessories
This day sees the release of products designed for storing and displaying cards. Day & Night Mini Tins will go on sale (featuring Pokémon like Espeon and Umbreon). When placed side-by-side, these tins form a continuous image. Each pack contains 2 booster packs, a sticker, and an art card.

The second product releasing on October 2 is the Binder Collection. This is an official 30th-anniversary album designed for card storage. The set includes 5 booster packs and a 9-pocket portfolio.

If you want an extra dose of pack-opening joy without the extra accessories, wait for the Booster Bundle with 6 packs, arriving in the second wave.

- Wave: October 30, 2026 – Products for Players
The third wave brings decks designed primarily for gameplay. EX Battle Decks featuring Espeon and Umbreon are launching. In this set, you'll find a ready-to-play 60-card deck built for immediate use in tournaments or at home. These products are perfect for players who don't want to build their own decks from individual cards.

- Wave: November 6, 2026 – Premium Collections
At the beginning of November, the premium anniversary products arrive. The main release is the Ultra Premium Collection – Day & Night (UPC). This box contains 30 booster packs, special promo cards (including Pikachu EX or Day & Night themes), and gaming accessories like metal coins or a playmat. Anniversary UPC boxes are among the most extensive offerings available.

Along with the UPC, the Mewtwo & Mew Set also releases on November 6. In addition to 5 booster packs, this set includes a figure featuring Mewtwo and Mew.

An Autumn to Remember
The Pokémon TCG 30th Anniversary set is a once-in-a-decade event. It offers a clear cross-section of history, the new Futuristic rarity, all-foil packs, and a guaranteed Pikachu card in every booster. Staggering the products into four waves from mid-September to early November gives all players and collectors time to browse the new releases and pick exactly what fits their collection.
