This box is primarily for Alpha Strike players, which is a highly streamlined version of classic BattleTech and essentially a traditional wargame. However, players of the "classic" version can also pick it up to expand their arsenal of war machines. The box contains these BattleMechs (a mix of IS and Clan): Locust LCT-3M (new variant), Wasp WSP-3W (new variant), Blackjack BJ-3 (new variant), Phoenix Hawk PXH-1, Wraith TR1 (new model), Archer ARC-5R (new variant), Warhammer WHM-6R, Atlas AS7-S (new variant), Fire Moth D (new variant), Pouncer Prime (new model), Nova Prime, Timber Wolf Prime, Warhawk C (new variant).
The box content is very rich, and the only thing I would criticize is that the rulebook doesn't include all the special rules for the machines contained in the box.

Tato krabice je hlavně pro hráče Aplha strike, který je hodně zjednodušenou verzí klasického BattleTechu a vlastně se jedná o klasickou wargammingovou hru. Mohou si ho ale také pořídit hráči „klasiky“, aby doplnili svůj arzenál válečných strojů. Obsah krabice je velmi bohatý a jediné, co bych obsahu vytknul je to, že v pravidlech nejsou uvedeny všechny speciální pravidla, které stroje v krabici obsažené mají.

The Alpha Strike starter set includes simplified rules, miniatures of BattleMechs, game cards, and paper terrain (buildings, trees, tokens).

It's a great way to enter the world of BattleTech. Good news: you can use these miniatures for Classic BattleTech as well (and vice versa). Compared to Classic, Alpha Strike offers faster gameplay and allows you to field more miniatures because the game mechanics are significantly simplified, yet still fun and well-designed. You don't have to stick to the "wargaming" style with measuring distances in inches; you can also play on hex maps (just divide distances by two).

For me personally, coming from Classic BattleTech, the Alpha Strike Boxed Set is both a source of miniatures for Classic and a perfect entry point into the faster-paced Alpha Strike.

Zakladni sada pro hrani Alpha Strike - obsahuje zjednodusena pravidla, figurky OBRu (mechu), herni karty a papirovy teren (budovy, stromy, zetony).

S timto se da krasne vstoupit do sveta Battletechu, dobra zprava je, ze figurky lze vyuzit i pro Classic Battletech (a naopak). Alpha Strike jako takovy oproti Classic nabizi rychlejsi spad hry a hru s vice figurkami, protoze herni mechaniky jsou podstatne zjednodusene, ale zaroven porad dost zabavne a propracovane. Take neni nutne hrat jen “wargamingovy” styl s merenim vzdalenosti na palce, ale jde hrat i na hexovych mapach (vzdalenosti se vydeli dvema).

Pro me osobne prichoziho z Classic Battletech je Alpha Strike Boxed set jak zdrojem figurek pro Classic, tak vstupnim bodem do rychlejsiho Alpha Strike.

Classic BattleTech (Total Warfare) is fun, but it's also a relatively demanding game. You have to keep track of a lot of things at all times. With a larger number of mechs, it gets complicated and feels more like Excel than a game.

Alpha Strike is a streamlined ruleset where each mech is treated as a single (unmodifiable) unit. You don't need to track how many weapons it has, their current performance, and so on. With a bit of exaggeration, you could call Alpha Strike 'BattleTech for human beings'.

In the box, besides 13 mechs, cards, and tokens, you'll find a decent amount of terrain (in the form of buildings and trees), which beginners who don't have such gaming aids at home will especially appreciate.

The Quick-Start rules contain all the basics you need to play BattleTech Alpha Strike with the contents of this box. They are clearly written and include plenty of illustrations.

Klasický Battletech (Total Warfare) je síce zábavná ale aj relatívne náročná hra. Je pri nej nutné sledovať a stále myslieť na dosť veľa vecí. Pri hrách s väčším počtom mech-ov je to dosť komplikované a viac excel ako zábava.

Alpha Strike je zjednodušený súbor pravidiel, kde sa na každého mech-a hľadí ako na jeden (nemodifikovateľný) celok. Nie je nutné sledovať koľko a akých má zbraní, aký je zrovna ich výkon za aktuálnych podmienok atd. Z určitou mierou nadsadenia sa dá Alpha Strike pomenovať ako Battletech for human beings.

V krabici nájdeme okrem 13 mech-ov, kariet a žetónov aj slušné množstvo terénu (vo forme domov a stromov) ktoré ocenia hlavne nováčikovia, ktorý doma ešte podobné pomôcky ku hrám nemajú.

Quick-Start pravidlá obsahujú všetky základné pravidlá, ktoré sú nutné na hranie Battletech Alpha Strike s obsahom tejto krabice. Sú zrozumiteľne napísané, obsahujú aj množstvo ilustrácií.
