The band Fiannan has been active on the Czech "Celtic" scene since 1998. You can catch them performing monthly at the Salmovská literární kavárna in Prague. For several years, they have also been a staple at the Beltine festival in the Celtic open-air museum in Letovice. They play Irish, Scottish, and Breton songs, mostly with Czech lyrics that stay true to the original themes. Their instrumentation features various combinations of transverse flute, recorder, whistle, violin, guitar, accordion, and bodhrán. All members sing, and each has their own solo tracks in the repertoire.

The CD Salma mater is their latest release, featuring 26 songs and instrumentals. It is a recording of their Christmas concert from December 2009. In addition to the band members, the album features guest appearances by Martin Wang Pergl (Peregrin), Martin Penič (Shannon), and Krišpína Kučerová (a former member of Fiannan). The CD was self-released.
